Roxie ARPH #13885

Roxie is a lovely 3-yr-old black tri female Australian Shepherd that came to ARPH after her previous owner could not properly care for her. Roxie is a high energy girl that needs lots of love and affection, as well as continued training. Her foster parents have done such an excellent job with her that they actually worked with Roxie to obtain her Canine Good Citizenship certification through the American Kennel Club! This is an outstanding achievement and provides a great foundation for Roxie's future owners.

She is an excellent retriever, loves to play fetch... and wants nothing more than to be with her people at all times. Roxie is a bit of a princess and wants to be involved in EVERYTHING! She is great around all other dogs and people, but she is only trustworthy with cats that are dog-savvy. If they run, she will chase. She is house-broken, kennel trained, and leash trained. Roxie gets very upset when her people go away from her, so a home that intends to include her in everything is ideal. She would love to go hiking, camping, and do everything with her family.

Roxie would greatly benefit from being given a job to do - whether it is agility, flyball, search-&-rescue, and so on. She is very smart and needs more activity than the average pet household can provide - one walk per day isn't going to cut it for Miss Roxie! She also would prefer a home with another dog of similar size and play-style so she can wrestle/rough-and-tumble.

We like to say that Roxie does everything 110%! When she is good, she is GREAT! And when she is bad, she is SUPER NAUGHTY! She would do best going to a home with previous Aussie experience.

Roxie is a fantastic girl that has been with us far too long. She patiently waits for the day she can go home with her forever family.

Roxie is located in Alvarado, TX and it is REQUIRED that you travel there to meet her in person to adopt.  If you have not applied to be an adopter with ARPH, please fill out our adoption application.

If you're interested or have any questions (and have already completed our Adoption Application), please contact Kim Griswold at kimgriswold@att.net (Please allow 24-48 hours for a response). Thank you!

Rose ARPH #13534

Rose is a LOVELY senior Aussie girl that was rescued off the euthanasia list in the nick-of-time! She is approximately 8-9 years old and was in rough medical shape when she first came to us (emaciation, hairloss, bacterial infections, etc), but her amazing foster parents have gone above and beyond to get her in tip-top shape!

Rose is still finishing up some of her medical needs, including a dental cleaning that will require a few extractions, but she will be ready for her forever family around the New Year/early 2017. She is house-broken, leash-trained, gets along beautifully with other dogs (of either sex). Rose is a low-key girl that does not have high-maintenance exercise needs, as a simple walk and playtime in the yard will do for her. She also has some really endearing behaviors; for example, she does a precious "pitter patter" dance with her front feet when it is dinner time!

Rose is patiently hopeful that a family somewhere out there will look past her age to the adorable, loving character she possesses and would be willing to provide her with a permanent home for the rest of her life. After all, age is just a number, right!? (PS - she is a BIG TIME snuggle-bug!)

Rose is located in Georgetown, TX and it is REQUIRED that you travel there to meet her in person to adopt. If you're interested or have any questions (and have already completed our Adoption Application), please contact Kim Griswold at kimgriswold@att.net - (Please allow 24-48 hours for a response). Thank you!

Turner ARPH #13892

This sweet, gentle soul is an approximately 8-9 year old blue merle male we've named Turner. He was picked up as a stray in Corsicana, TX and was never reclaimed... which is a terrible shame, as Turner was clearly a beloved pet once before. He came to our program already neutered, and knows how to sit, shake (with both paws), lay down, and roll over. He is totally house-broken, has wonderful manners, and walks beautifully on a leash. He also has evidence of a prior hip surgery, something that is very expensive! We wish Turner could tell us his story so we could track down the person who put so much time and love into him.

We have been administering long-term treatment to Turner for advanced heartworms through a "slow-kill method" - what that means is we are slowly allowing the worms to die off by stopping their reproduction cycle instead of the standard "injection treatment" that kills the worms right away. We chose this method due to the stage and severity of his infection - X-rays show that he has permanent damage from them and our Vets were concerned about his ability to physically handle the usual course of treatment. Through no fault of his own, it has come to our realization that Turner will always need to be on a medicinal protocol to help control and maintain his comfort level... but we know he has plenty of life left in him and he has shown us he can be comfortable and happy. So we are looking for a home that will not hold his medical needs (or his age) against him and provide him with a loving retirement home!

(PS: X-rays also showed that he had been shot before.... so whatever happened between his first owner and ending up in the shelter system, we may never know.)

Turner may be an older gent and have some medical issues, but that does not make him any less deserving of a home. He is a super easy guy to live with, requiring nothing but a soft doggy bed, regular meal times, gentle walks, and a lot of love.

Could you give Turner everything he has always deserved?

Turner is located in Bedford, TX and it is required that you travel there to meet him in person to adopt, no exceptions. We do need the entire party to be involved when meeting available dogs, including every family member and dog(s) that currently live in your home.

If you have already completed an adoption application and have additional questions not addressed in the bio above, please contact Turner's Rep, Laura Bates-Kempf, at aussie330@aol.com (Please allow 48 hours for a response). Thank you!

Erik ARPH #13528

Erik came to us with many of his relatives from an owner that needed to downsize the number of dogs they had. Parting with them was very difficult and it was clear that Erik and the others were very loved.

Erik is an approximately 5-year-old red merle male Aussie that is fully vetted and ready to start looking for his forever family. He is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, and perfectly mannered. He is what we consider low energy for an Aussie.

Erik is, by far, the easiest foster dog his foster mom has ever had. He goes with the flow, catches on quick, and thrives off routine. He has the most wonderful temperament, an "on" and off switch that he properly regulates himself, and a sweet cuddle-bug personality (but isn't overly pushy about it.) He has never had an accident in the house, his potty schedule is like clockwork, and he crates quietly when needed, but he is trust-worthy free in the house as well. He doesn't break the rules, he walks beautifully on a leash, he acknowledges the cats existence but then ignores him.  He might chase a cat that runs, or livestock... so for that reason, he should go to a home with dog-savvy cats only, and no livestock.

He really loves to howl with the sirens and he has a very soulful voice. It took a good 6-8 weeks for his silly side to start showing in foster care, but once he gets to that comfort level, he is adorable. He's a big teddy bear with his people and loves to give big grins and chomp-kisses (clatters his teeth together when excited). He is not a fan of approaching or getting into the car, but once in, he rides like a champ.

Erik was used to being the leader on the property he came from, so he is on the dominant side with male dogs. He would do best in a home or family that has fun-loving female dogs or no other dogs. He LOVES puppies and is a great puppy-sitter.

Erik is located in North Richland Hills, TX and it is required that you travel there to meet him in person to adopt, no exceptions. We do need the entire party to be involved when meeting available dogs, including every family member and dog(s) that currently live in your home.

If you have already completed an adoption application and have additional questions not addressed in the bio above, please contact Erik's Rep, Laura Bates-Kempf, at aussie330@aol.com (Please allow 48 hours for a response). Thank you!

Todd ARPH #13583

Todd is a handsome red-head Australian Shepherd male that lost his home when his owner passed away. He was rescued off the streets by a friendly neighbor who then contacted our organization. Todd is approximately 3-4 years old and has a pure heart of gold!

This sweet boy is housebroken, crate-trained, and leash-trained. He absolutely adores people! He is a true velcro-Aussie with a very solid, stable temperament. He has met, interacted, and played with countless other dogs during his time in our program and behaves famously with all of them... with the exception of only one. We believe this difference of opinion stemmed from both of them falling into the same position within the pack and Todd feels there is room for only one supreme shadow/snuggler! Simply a personality conflict with these two individuals, but it will be important for Todd to have his own role in the house if there are other canine members in the home of his potential future family.

He is a reliable, fun, sweet boy that would enjoy a family that wants to make him a part of their everyday life. He will need continued training, as any dog would, to ensure the foundation work his foster parents have started remain permanent. He knows how to sit and stay, and they have broken his habit of trying to dart out the door. He will need continued training for nail trims. He is NOT bird/fowl friendly, but he is cat-tolerant.

Todd is a lovely dog that would love nothing more than to find his forever family!

Todd is located in Austin, TX and it is REQUIRED that you travel there to meet her in person to adopt. If you're interested or have any questions (and have already completed our Adoption Application), please contact
Laura Bates-Kempf, at aussie330@aol.com (Please allow 24-48 hours for a response). Thank you!
